WASHINGTON State Incentives

The Biotechnology Product & Medical Device Manufacturers Tax Incentives Program is a sales and use tax deferral/waiver program that can be used for investments in construction or renovation of structures, or machinery as well as equipment used for biotechnology product or medical device manufacturing. The program was effective July 1, 2006 and expires January 1, 2017.

Business & Occupation Tax Credit for New Jobs allows a $2,000 or $4,000 (if wages exceed $40,000) credit against the business and occupation tax. It is available to manufacturing, R&D, or computer service firms for each new employment position created and filled by specific industries in rural counties and community empowerment zones.

The Warehouse Tax Incentive exempts 100% of state sales tax associated with construction of qualifying structures, and 50% exemption for acquisition costs of qualifying equipment. It is available to wholesalers, retail distribution centers, or third-party warehousers with 200,000 square feet or greater or a grain elevator with at least 1 million bushels of storage capacity.
