Viracon Names St. George, UT as 3rd Plant Location

Viracon’s newest architectural glass fabrication plant will be located in St. George, UT. The new $25 million facility will employ 250 to 300 employees. St. George is located in Utah’s extreme southwest corner, bordering Arizona and Nevada. The new $25 million facility will increase Viracon’s glass fabrication capacity by approximately $40 million when the plant is at full capacity.

Viracon will break ground this May and expects to be operational in April 2007. According to Don Pyatt, Viracon president, the plant will be a comprehensive, full-fabrication facility to serve the growing commercial glass market with value-added products. The plant will be complete with two insulating glass lines, as well as tempering, laminating, coating and silk-screening production lines.

Bill Wright, vice president of manufacturing for the new facility, says, “Our search focused first on the best southwest location to meet the needs of our customers in the west. Then we looked at quality of life, workforce and economics. As we talked with officials from St. George and Utah, we realized that from all perspectives, St. George would meet our needs and theirs.“

Viracon’s search for a location in the southwest was assisted by Colliers International, a commercial real estate consultant company.
