Overseas Production Line
Comes Back to New York
Empire State
Development (ESD) Chairman Charles A. Gargano announced
in early December that Custom Air Design, Inc., located
in Honeoye, NY, Ontario County, will bring work that
is currently being done oversees in Malaysia back to
New York State. The project will retain all 50 current
employees while adding 45 jobs.
"We are very happy to be bringing
manufacturing work from offshore back to New York State,"
says Custom Air Design President Robert Greenebaum.
"This project will enable our business to be a fully
integrated metal fabricating operation and better service
our customers. We could never have done this without
the help from New York State and Ontario County. Thank
you Governor Pataki and your team at Empire State Development
for your valuable assistance in making this a reality."
Custom Air Design is working
with a local Rochester-based manufacturer, Rochester
Midland Corporation, to take over its production of
feminine napkin dispensers. The company will invest
over $900,000 in machinery and the purchase of the building
it currently leases in Honeoye.
Custom Air Design is a fully
integrated fabrication company specializing in building
large custom air handling equipment. The company is
actively seeking a wide variety of high-quality metal
fabrication projects. Custom Air Design currently occupies
a 70,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in upstate
New York just 25 miles south of Rochester.
"Each year, Governor Pataki
fights harder and harder to build a pro-business policy
structure that assists our current business community
to expand while putting in place vital incentives for
our businesses to strengthen and grow," says Gargano.
"This news marks a pivotal point in Custom Air Design's
commitment and future in New York.
"This New York State success
story shows how Governor Pataki's policies continue
to show their positive mark on this state's business
community," he continues. "This administration is proud
to have been able to supply key initiatives and support
to allow this important employer to remain and keep
jobs in New York State despite even with the nation's
difficult economic climate."
In consideration of the company's
commitment to New York State, Custom Air Design will
be eligible to apply to ESD for a $75,000 capital grant
to assist in its acquisition and expansion.
